As you can tell, this blog is mostly focused on interior design, but I will occasionally include other types of design (automobile, fashion, etc.) that tickle my fancy. Baby Splurge of the Week

As a mother, I am constantly looking for things for my baby girl. But how much is too much to spend on a toy or a coat or an outfit for your little one? My daughter's wardrobe seems to consist mostly of things from Old Navy with an occasional splurge item from Mommy or Grandma, but if you want some nice additions to your little one's closet, keep an eye out for the Baby Splurge of the Week. Countertops

We want to use a terrazzo-type material for the countertops and the flooring in our kitchen. I"m tired of granite (it is in almost every kitchen you see), don't want to use marble (even though I think it looks beautiful as a countertop) because it stains more easily than other materials, think that slate or concrete is not quite warm enough, and need to get rid of the laminate that we have now. I did some research and found a company called Icestone whose materials are made of recycled glass and concrete. The result is a beautiful terrazzo which has some depth in color and shine. Our cabinets are going to be white and our appliances are going to be stainless steel, so we're leaning towards the neautrals among these colors:
